Here at Big Blue Diving, we will go to the depths of the ocean and back to make sure that your time with us is the most enjoyable that it can be and that everything goes as smoothly as possible. But as awesome as we are, we can’t control everything and sometimes things go awry. These are our terms and conditions.

Diving Terms

Scuba diving is a safe activity, but like most things, it does have a certain amount of risk.  When signing up for a diving course or a fun diving trip, you agree that you fully understand the risks of diving and accept that there could be dangers when travelling on a boat, or forces of nature that we can’t control.  You must be prepared to accept this risk.  

In agreeing to dive with us you release and absolve Big Blue Diving and all of its sub-entities and partners, agents, employees and invitees from any and all damages resulting from death or personal injuries, including loss of services, that you may sustain on account of, arising from, or in connection with a diving program, or the ownership, maintenance, use or operation of any automobile, ship, boat, water sports equipment or otherwise.

You must understand that your acceptance on a diving and/or snorkelling course and/or trip that is organized and conducted by Big Blue Diving or its sub-entities is predicated on your assurance that you are physically fit to engage in these activities.  If you have answered ‘yes’ to any of the questions on the medical form found here, you need to be signed off by a diving doctor at home before you arrive on Koh Tao.  Failure to do so could result in you not being able to participate for medical reasons and in this case, we cannot offer a refund for any deposit already paid.

You must also understand that there are certain factors out of our control that may affect your holiday on Koh Tao.  The remoteness of Koh Tao, local customs, and/or inclement weather conditions may cause inconvenience or modification to planned diving courses and/or fun diving trips.  Big Blue Diving and all of its sub-entities reserve the right to modify and/or cancel diving arrangements due to any factor that we believe could impact the safety of the trip.

All of your equipment is included in the price of your course and/or your fun diving.  However, if you break it or lose it, we must insist that you pay for it.  You agree to pay compensation at full market value to Big Blue Diving or its sub-entities for any and all damage or loss of property and equipment belonging to Big Blue Diving or its sub-entities resulting from abuse or negligence on your part. 

You agree to strictly observe and comply with any and all additional reasonable terms and regulations prescribed by Big Blue Diving or any of its employees during the course of a diving course or fun diving trip that may be necessary to ensure safety.

Payment Terms

To guarantee your booking you will be required to leave a 30% deposit.  The balance will be due upon your arrival at Big Blue Diving.  If you make a booking with us through social media and do NOT proceed to our website to pay your deposit, we will always do our best to honour your booking when you arrive but we cannot make any guarantees.

We cannot currently offer refunds on booking deposits.  Please ensure that your booking information is correct prior to booking. 

Please ensure to verify accommodation and course availability with us by email ([email protected]) prior to booking.  If you do not verify accommodation availability with us, proceed with booking, and the accommodation is unavailable, you will not be eligible for a refund.

Cancellation Terms

Cancellations must be received more than 14 days prior to your arrival date.  Any cancellations received less than 14 days prior to your arrival date will result in no refund.

If you do not cancel and do not arrive at Big Blue Diving, you will forfeit 100% of your deposit.

Dive Course Changes

We offer a 50% refund if you were to cancel on the first day of the Open Water course only.  After this there are no refunds.

If you arrive at Big Blue Diving and answer ‘yes’ on the medical form without having been signed off by a diving doctor at home first, we may not be able to allow you to start your course.  In this event, you will not be eligible for a refund of your deposit.

Big Blue Diving and its sub-entities reserve the right to rearrange the order of any itinerary, to cancel or substitute elements of any schedule without notice when local conditions force such changes. 

Big Blue Diving and our staff on our boats can prohibit participation on dives at their discretion based on a lack of respect for ecological rules and regulations.  This includes, but is not limited to, handling of marine life, alcohol consumption between and/or before dives, and/or not abiding by internationally recognised safe diving rules.  If our staff ban you from diving you will not be eligible for a refund for the missed dives.

That’s it!  That’s all the fine print.  These rules are in place to protect you, as well as our staff, business partners, and other customers, and to make sure that all of us can dive safely.
